I am Tatiana, fiber artist and creator of Tatigurumi.

I was born and raised in Tuscany, in a city (Prato) where textiles were everywhere, and I’ve always wanted to spend my life creating things. The most natural choice was to use textile materials to do so.

Since 2012, I’ve been living in Ticino (Switzerland), where I found the perfect environment to develop my small business idea.

As of early 2024, Tatigurumi has become my full-time job.

My journey...

...has been far from linear, but creativity has always been what made me feel good, so it was inevitable that it would become what I wanted to do "when I grew up".

I started in the late '90s with the creation of One of a Kind fashion dolls, then moved into the world of ball jointed dolls, creating makeup and clothing for them.

Always as self-taught, and for this reason, in 2017 I decided to give my knowledge a more professional touch by attending the School of Tailoring in Lugano.

Later, I started to develop the idea of an independent business.

Although sewing remains a great passion, in the end, yarns prevailed (at least for now
😉)!

Because in creativity, the heart always wins over reason.
And with yarn and crochet, I have a special connection that I want to share with you.

My mother worked in the spinning industry, and I literally grew up surrounded by yarn: I learned the technical terminology and types of materials "by osmosis" when I was still in elementary school!

My grandmother, on the other hand, worked with fabrics, but in her free time, she loved crocheting. I always thought that one day I would ask her to teach me, but I waited too long, and in the end, I was no longer able to ask her.

A few years later, however, I met the man who is now my husband, and he also had a grandmother who loved crocheting. Second chances cannot be missed, so I asked Grandma Nella to teach me, and I haven’t stopped since.

My first amigurumi!

In 2011, while I was expecting my daughter, I made my first amigurumi: a pink bunny I invented, which became her first toy.

This is, briefly and somewhat messily, my story, the one that led to the birth of Tatigurumi.

It’s not just a job, but the realization of my dream to create things that bring smiles to the faces of the people I meet every day.
